“Every tooth in a man’s head is more valuable than a diamond.” – Miguel de Cervantes.
Born in Costa Rica, his mother says that when he was just a child he was already very interested in dentistry, “She tells me when I was about 12 years old, our neighbor had a broken tooth and I wanted to try to fix it”.
After his high school graduation, he initiated his studies to become a Dentist at UCR (University of Costa Rica), but always with the dream of completing his career abroad.
After the first 4 years of the career, he had the opportunity to culminate the last year of the degree at the Paulista University (UNIP) in Sao Paulo Brazil in 1993, where despite of not knowing Portuguese and have no family there, he took the risks and ventured to accomplish not only his professional goal but also in just a few months he learned Portuguese.
While he was in Brazil, he was named Consul of Costa Rica at the age of 23, where he exercised this position for 2 years.
After his graduation, he returned home to Costa Rica and founded Sonrisa para Todos in 1999 focusing on national patients.
“I consider myself a person that achieves my objectives and I am willing to do anything to accomplish them, without fear of taking risks, I have stepped out of the scheme where everybody expects for things to happen and that’s why I have accomplished different goals”.
Dr. Mario Bonilla
In 2005 he founded New Smile Dental Group Costa Rica which was mainly created to offer an affordable solution for US & Canadian patients seeking for dental implants and full mouth rehabilitation at a superior and world-class quality. For these reasons, Dr. Bonilla and his team at New Smile Dental Group are considered one of the pioneers in the implementation of dental tourism in Costa Rica, emphasizing that this is not only a matter of the Clinic, but also to highlight a country and all its beauty.
